Even though this is fanart, I thought I should post it here. I don't feel that fanart of live-action shows or books is the same as fanart of animated series. When dealing with live-action shows, you have to pick a graphic style. Even more so with books, since you often have to completely design the character's image from a description in text.

Star Wars is also a special exception... George Lucas is very generous with the use of his material, and many respected professional artists make a living selling (licensed) Star Wars fan art.

This is definitely in my top 10 favorite pieces that I've ever made. I spent months on it. I used Corel Painter Essentials 4. It's technically 27x32" but I've never printed it that large lol.

The photo I used as a reference was taken by :iconbenaequee: and can be seen here: [link]

This is a truly exquisite piece, Maria! you've done an outstanding job with the very delicate color and value transitions on her skin and clothing. I really like the line quality and the color scheme you chose for this wonderful composition. I love the delicate gesture on her hand and her gentle gaze. The color contrast between the background and the subject works very well. The stronger values at the bottom make the lighter color values on her gown more vibrant, while the lighter values at the top of the composition give a natural contrast, and beautiful back lit effect to the darker tones of her skin and hair! :wow:
Just brilliant! :)
Thank you so much! I spent a few months making this thing, figuring out how Painter works. The source photo was gorgeous to begin with, but I'm really glad someone appreciates what I was trying to do with the background.
No problem, its' my pleasure!
It truly is a beautiful piece! ;)
